Farm and Family

Wipledale Dairy Farm family portrait

The Craun family

Wipledale Dairy Farm is a family run grazing dairy located in the eastern part of Franklin County in Glade Hill, Virginia (near Smith Mountain Lake). The dairy is operated by fourth generation dairy farmer, David Craun along with the help and support from wife Julie and their three boys. The farm was started in the Spring of 2003, fulfilling a dream David and Julie had of making their living and raising their family on a farm.

The dairy has evolved over the years from all Holstein to now being mostly jersey crosses with a goal of being heavily Jersey influenced. From the beginning we have focused our efforts to make pasture the largest portion of the cow’s diet. We also have progressed towards more intensive, sustainable pasture management and our land today is being farmed without the use of herbicides or chemical fertilizers.

With the raw milk herdshare being our main focus we are also expanding into offering fresh produce, all-natural eggs, homemade breads, and handmade soaps all directly from our farm.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
